Meeting the Students
Just before lunch, we visited the school we were going to work. My classmates and I were split up into two groups. One group helped to start building a fence while the rest of us went to some classrooms to work with kids. I was put into a kindergarten class, and they were taking exams!! The second I walked in to the room, many boys and girls came to hug me. Meeting these kids has really shown me how different people's lifestyles are and what different things we are grateful for. I carried some boys and girls on my back, we played duck-duck-goose, and played a little bit of soccer. The kids always seemed so happy about the idea that someone from a different country, with different hair and eye color, was here to meet them. I think that I really connected with the students here because we all spoke Spanish. Being able to speak to someone in a language that I know so well is pretty amazing. These kids were so kind, sweet, and cute! I can't wait to see them tomorrow.
Dear Mom, Dad, Daniella, Mateo, and FINN,
I am having a great time here in Belize. I am really bonding with close friends and other girls and boys too. I can't wait until I see you guys and hope everything is well!
Love,
Nina
